This 37mm round was found ca. 1993 in the former US Embassy/Naval compound in Asmara, Eritrea. On the side of the casing is printed: 37MM M17 B1, LOT SER 100, 1943. On the projectile is stamped: FUZE DUM, M50. And printed on the projectile is: 37MM M21, [DR]ILL, CARTRIDGE. (the "DR" is worn and barely visible). I kept the item since all indicators were it was a dummy round with no explosive danger. If that assumption is wrong please let me know. I suspect the round is Italian since they were in Eritrea during the WWII era, but could not confirm that.
Nice patina, never cleaned, some slight dents in the case and some wear marks from rolling around before I got it. Tip is somewhat rusted.
I need to know any potential issues putting this item on the market, and perhaps historical reference. I think the value range is $50.00 to $100.00. Thank you.
