Model 1850 Mounted Field and Staff Officer's Sword

Description

Another mark, an oval with three stars over an "E" and either an "L" or a "1" is stamped into the hilt.  Engraved on the upper edge of the blade is "06" followed by what may be "Klingenthal" (a Civil War sword manufacturer, followed by what appaers to be "Cal ..." or "Bal..."

The etching on the blade is deep and clear.  There is some rust on the blade near the hilt.  I have not cleaned it (only put mineral oil on the blade) as that should be left to a pro.

The scabbard is metal, has some dents, and is missing a screw.

The sword fits well in the scabbard.
