Hat Box Chest

Description

This is a hat box chest I bought at auction. It had a badly cracked and stained lacquer finish. I cleaned it up and replaced the finish. I left the original stain but matched it up on bad areas.  I replaced the pulls with the exception of the two bail pulls on the top drawer. I also had to replace a drawer bottom due to mouse pee stains. It has caster wells in the legs.

I attached a picture of the hat box door before refinishing to show the outline of an applique that was possibly original. Only one eyebrow was left when I got it.

I was hoping Mr Lovejoy or someone else out there might be able to fill in the blanks for me and also put a value on it.
