Chairs like this were produced during the turn of the 19th century and sold through mail order catalogs such as Montgomery Ward circa 1898. They're generally maple and birch with a dark mahogany dye stained finish, values for them currently are very modest, the demand for late Victorian furniture being very weak at the current time, at auction < 100.00.
