American Indian wooden hand-carved carrier

Description The woman who sold this item to me at a garage sale said that this was a water carrier that her ancestors used and had been passed down generations till it was passed down to her. It is clearly hand carved out of wood and the strap is braided horse hair. On the bottom is deer or elk hide.
