Solid oak carved rocking chair

Appraisal complete
Description This chair is solid oak and hand carved. It is very solid and stable with no creaks or give at any of the joints. I have not found any names or identifying marks anywhere on the chair. It was once in an antique shop House on the Blue Hill in Bennington Vermont which is now closed. I received it as a gift from a well off friend who says it is valuable. That is about all I know. I am looking to appraise it for selling. Thanks for any help.

Your chair dates from the first quarter of the 20th century. These chairs are mass produced items, the majority of the carving was done by "Ganged" routing machines. Such machines allowed one worker to carve a dozen or more pieces at a time by following a " Master" pattern with a stylus. Comparable examples at auction sell for under $250.00. Lovejoy
