Edward Roos 1881-1949 had a factory in Chicago. He built quality chests of which many are still in use across the country today. A quick Google search yields quite a fair number of them. The condition and the the serial # seem to affect the price though I found no reference to your particular chest and you didn't include a picture which is a must when seeking an on line appraisal certainly. I think you did well buying it for $50 and from what I can tell it has a value of between $100-$400 at auction again depending as before stated. At the end of the day it is a fairly common piece and like most things is worth exactly what you can get someone to pay for it on any given day.
