Description Silver (or plated) bowl with pedestal, (seems to be tarnishing and i'm not sure how to clean it). Winged Cherubs around rim, seems like the cherub rim is attached via weld or solder. Had a india sticker on bottom, not sure if it was made there or not. I think its old, but may be mistaken! Weighs about 2-3 pounds. I don't see any markings as to who or where its made by.

Anything with a country of origin mark/sticker generally postdate 1891 to comply with the Mckinley trade tarriff. This law required any item imported into the USA have a country of origin marking, the USA being the largest growing market at the time most manufacturer's were quick to mark their products. By international conventions any item that is silver and not silver plate will also be marked in some way to indicate the silver content, each country having it's own system of marks. A great deal of metal ware comes out of India due to low production and labor costs, most of it made for the low end of the decorator market and has very modest values in the secondary market. To be on the safe side though I'd suggest having it tested for silver content, most jewellers should be able to do this for a modest fee.
