handheld leather item

Description Toughened leather handheld items, obviously very old, worn on both hands as there are two of them and they look like a pair. One appears more worn on the outside than the other, almost grazed appearance. Each one has a round, smooth hard, leather handle on the inside. Obviously used for something very strenuous as the leather is very thick and strong as is the stitching, almost like the leather on a vintage cricket ball. Please help identify them as my next step is to take them to a museum.
