Description This is a tea set that has gold leaf detailing, WATTS WARE stamped on the bottom but the unique factor is that if you hold the tea cup up to the light and look through it it shows the face of a Chinese figurine. I have plenty of pictures so email me and I can send you them.

I am not a tea set expert, but my wife knows a bit about these and after looking at your photo she said that what you have is one of the extreme high-end sets as evidenced by the translucent image at the bottom of the cup. I wish I could tell you more about it, but thought I'd share at least this little tidbit with you for whatever it's worth.

The image is called a " Lithophane" They were used in the bottom of a lot of eggshell and dragonware china from the late 1890's through the 1950's. If you could post some image of the rest of the piece (plates and cups) I could tell you what type you have. Lovejoy

I have a similar tea set inherited from my father he bought this set in china during korean war. it is a set of 12 tea cups and 12 saucers and creamer and a sugar bowl.they are in perfect condition. chinese writing on the bottom, gold and other colors of chinese landscape. if you hold up to light you see a geisha girl image. do you have any information on this possiably how much its worth and what kind it is? thank you!my e-mail address is [email protected]
