old medical trunk

Description I acquired this item from a storage locker of a man who passed away. He had no family, so all of his things were going to be thrown away. I don't know anything about the man that it belonged to. I took this trunk because I was intrigued by it. There is no writing on it except for where it says "Unit No." There was also a photograph of a young girl inside of it that was dated sometime in the early 1940s. (I can't find the photo now, so I don't know the exact date). It looks like it has a red cross symbol on it, but it could just be a medical symbol from something else. If I had to guess, I would think that it is a medical trunk from World War II maybe. I can not find any information online about the trunk though, so I'm not even sure it is American. All of the latches work. photos at http://picasaweb.google.com/jcomp007/Trunk
