Need appraisal

Appraisal complete
Description I believe it is a serving bowl of some sort. The bottom piece is 6" round with feet to stand. the top piece (the cover) has leaves & Vines engraved. Also comes with what appears to be a butter knife that lies sideways in brackets on side of bowl. The following are the markings on the knife itself: WM A ROGERS, Heirloom plate, Pat Plofor.
