Antique Moriage Vase with Raised Birds

Description This was given to me last week as a gift. It came out of a 95 year old mans house who lived in a house built in the 1800's by his parents ( he has never lived anywhere else, and lived alone until going into a rest home last week). He said this was his mother vase before he gave it to me. Would just like to know the worth of it ( not looking to sell). Thanks in advance!

Yes this is an example moriage, pieces like this were made in Japan and China during the late 19th century and beyond for the export market. This one looks Chinese. here's a link for you: http://www.liveauctioneers.com/search?q=chinese+moriage+vase&&sort=relevance&dtype=gallery&type=complete&rows=20
