Old Rare Chinese Tapestries/Textiles from Emperor Tao Kuang Era

Description

These tapestries were obtain by William Christian Paul, and given as a present to Clifford W and Althea M. Valentin who was a close friend of Mr. Paul, and had dinner with them on many occasions. They are said to be of the Emperor Tao Kuang Era (1821-1851). One of the tapestry has a detailed newspaper article dated Monday, July 14, 1930 on the back of the frame that gives full details of the life and collection of rare old tapestries and textiles obtained through out Mr. Pauls life. An upon his death bequeathed the Metropolitian Museum of Art a priceless collection of old Chinese tapestris and textiles.

They were given as a present from William Christian Paul of 563 Walton Ave Bronx, NY to Clifford W. and Althea M. Valentine then passed down to daughter Patricia A. Valentine (Laughlin) recently deceased passed them down to her two sons one being my husband William J Laughlin (Executor) and her other son Robert G Laughlin
