Bust of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Description This life-size piece shows the most famous American poet of the 19th century at the age of 33, The varnished shading on the figure lends a feeling of antique marble to this example of cast-plaster statuary. Unknown whether this is a copy of another piece. No mark denoting artist or manufacture can be seen. Quality: Good -- will require only very minor restoration. Face, hair and clothing of the subject will require a few spots of paint touch-up. Base of statue is chipped - missing 2 chips of plaster approx .25"x.25". These blemishes do not affect the stability or structure of the item. (see photos) Photos show the statue from the front, back, left, right and top.
