History of designer. The internationally acclaimed designer and painter Barbara Brenner, who was born in Stuttgart, Germany, on June 11th, 1939, and first caused a stir in the sixties with her work for Rosenthal, belongs to the top artists in her field. After a course at the "Gewerbliche Berufs - und Fachschule Stuttgart" between 1955 and 1958, she initially worked as chief designer for Tritschler, before joining Rosenthal in 1960, w she was also involved in the work of the "Studio Tapio Wirkkala" from Helsinki. In 1968, she started a career of her own in Hamburg. As an independent designer she created ceramics, books, textiles and wallpaper for companies like Finntex, Intair, Luxorette, Modo Maison Bern and Norta. From 1984 on, she taught textile design at the "Fachschule für Textildesign" in Hanover. In the early Nineties, her career brought her into contact with Rosenthal again. For this renowned company with its world-wide reputation she has since repeatedly designed ceramic objects, carpets and tiles. Barbara Brenner's work has won numerous international awards since 1972 and regularly receives public acclaim.
