Arthur Henry Hider Lithographs

Description

Fred Hider, brother of Arthur Henry Hider, lived with my family from 1952 to 1970's. After Arthurs wife died, he lived with Fred until 1952 when he died. He lived with Fred for 18 years and ended up losing his mind. Fred lived with us ever since I was learning to walk and attended my wedding in 1971.

Fred gave me the lithographs when i was a teen and I'm 58 and still have them.

I came across a painting signed by A.H. Hiden. The picture is of four beautiful horses pulling a stagecoach with two men on it. We picked this up at an Estate sale, the Lady who had passed on was 90 years old.. It wasn"t kept in her home but was hidden away in her garage. Just wondering if you had any interrest in buying this painting or if you had any idea if this painting has any value.

Arthur Henry Hider is a well known Canadian artist who is most famous for his works of horses. If you have one of the original chromaLithograph pieces then they could be worth $1000's.But from these originals they produced 1000's of plain Lithographs.I haven't been there but the Ontario Jockey Club has the largest collection and probably the originals of his horse racing pieces.I think that they were mostly winners of the King and Queen's Plate. Art Hider was also a major commercial artist doing work for 17 major Canadian companies. He also produced the enlisting posters for WW1,did some wildlife pieces, famous Boer War pieces and even some Indian art pieces. Many Lithographs have been surfacing on the outskirts of Toronto Canada in the last 2 years. Some have been found in yard sales.Art Hider was known as a generous man and gave away many of his lithographs as gifts to friends who could not afford to buy them. You can find his works also at the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Canadian War Museum.I have alot more information on this artist if needed but l hope this will suffice.
