I bought this painting at an auction 5 or so years ago because I just love the subject, and despite it's age, and lots of cracking in the painting, it has tremendous color. It appears to have been repaired several times also. When I bought, it was sold as attributed to Joshua Johnson. Mid 1800's who painting mourning portraits. There is no signature. I am just putting this out there to see if anyone can tell me anymore about this or give me an appraisal. I know that in that time period they did paint portraits of dead children, I wish I knew who had painted it.
