this is a silver cross type medal with a purple ribbom, it is in a black box with M.B.E on the outside the inside of the box says :

by special appointment

To His Majesty the king 24 albemarie st london dalhousie sq. calcutta

the medal says for god and the empire, it has three intials on the back and tiny hallmarks i cannot read.

This medal was cast and given out starting in 1917, it is a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) series of medals. It is priceless and would look good in a museum.
