Description
This art was bought by my father to an artist from Peru in the 1940's in New York. The signature reads: L.M. Ruiz. The bird is made from real feathers from the bird that is presented in the picture. I do not know how much money my father paid for it. It is in very good conditions and it draws the attention from everyone that enters my living room.

Re: Yellow Bird
I have a feather bird picture signed by L M Ruiz in the lower right! Yours looks like typical Mexican artwork, where the bird is on a branch. My feather bird is mostly yellow with 3D-looking feather layers making up his head. He is proudly sitting on a gray-colored rock with greenery at the bottom & a tall green reed at either side with pink blossoms. The back of the picture has a label -- Fine Feather Art, "Cock of the Rocks", and Gallo de las Rocas. It appears that several people gave this to "Tante" on his 70th birthday on Dec. 20, 1940. That is written on the back, along with the names of Bobby, Daddy, Mother, Eddie and Gloria. I found this hanging on the wall of an antique shop in Ft. Lauderdale, FL approximately 1990. The picture is 7" x 9-3/4" in a frame making it 11-1/2" x 15". I've looked online for another one with a painted background close to this and cannot find anything! I have several other feather bird pictures similar to yours but only signed with "Mexico". One has two birds; another has three. On the back side is the "Story of Mexican Feathercraft". Hope this helps.
