I was given this carving by a friend, I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like jade, it is kind of an odd greenish-tan color. I think it's a carving of a mythincal chinese beast, but I'm not sure which one (Pi zhou maybe?). There are a few minor chips, but all are on the base, and none are on the beast itself. I did find a website with a similar piece, made of porcelain, not sure if this may be a copy of that design, or genuinely from the same period (1662 - 1722), but I have included a link to that piece below. Any info as to how old it might be, what the beast is, and what, if anything, it's worth would be greatly appreciated, thanks,

Re: asian carving
This could either be a chinese pug dog, or a chinese guardian lion. It looks like either jade or blanc-de-chine. As there are no distinguishing marks or makers marks, i would say at auction this would go for 15-20 american dollars. Most chinese carvings go for around that price do to it being a rare item at auction. As for age, these are hard to tell without getting it tested. Best of luck.
