Description

William Sylvester Taylor (1853-1928) — also known as William S. Taylor; W. S. Taylor; "Hog Jaw"  of Kentucky. Born in Butler County, Ky., October 10, 1853. Republican. Lawyer; state court judge in Kentucky, 1886; Kentucky state attorney general, 1896-99; Governor of Kentucky, 1899-1900; delegate to Republican National Convention from Kentucky, 1900. Indicted in 1900 as a conspirator in the assassination of William J. Goebel; fled to Indiana; never extradited; pardoned in 1909 by Gov. Augustus E. Wilson. Died August 2, 1928. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, Ind.
