This chair appears to be a Depression Era dining chair, circa 1930s.  These were often sold in catalogs in sets to include a couple of arm chairs and several more side chairs.  It's hard to identify the wood from these photos, but this type of item was often made of poplar, sometimes with walnut veneer on the splat and other front facing surfaces.  I have not seen this exact design before, as a restorer, but the overall shape is common.  I've seen chairs like this in antique malls for about $45.  I hope this helps.
