Leather basket. Saddle bag? Native American?

Category
Other
Condition
Good
Description

Need help! What is it? All hand scraped animal hide. Hand forged iron loop closure. Weathered top. Diamond patterned hand cut leather decoration. Oak wood sticks support lid. Burned wood ends. Looks field made. Why the decoration for such a utility basket?

Mexican war saddle bag is my guess. Metal clasp is confusing me. European?

Age?  Value? Source?

Edwin M Knowles China

Category
China
Condition
Good
Description

I am looking for information on a china set that I inherited from my great grandmother. It is my understanding that it is her first china set after getting married in 1923 (not sure if that means she received it in 1923, but likely before 1930). I don't have any information on where she bought it or who gave it to her.

The set consists of 66 pieces (including the lids on two covered dishes). Most are in really good condition. There is crazing present on some dishes (one tea cup in particular is really bad) and the tea cups appear to have the most chips/staining (my great grandma loved tea, what can I say!)

Only two of the dishes are marked but they all have the same pattern. I believe it is the sugar dish and the cream dish (?) only that have "Edwin P Knowles China Company" with a ship logo and the word "Hostess" stamped in gold on the bottom. Only one has a number (586-0) which looks like it is hand painted. There is no "Made in XYZ" marks.

I have been looking for a matching pattern on google, ebay and etsy and have not been able to locate the exact pattern even when using the "Hostess" pattern name. The Knowles dating guides I have found are not any help when it comes to the number on the bottom.

There are some consistent imperfections on most of the plates (I believe they are due to the mold?) and some of the gold accents appear to be hand-painted, though the overall pattern seems far too intricate to be hand done.

I'm just looking for any information available on this pattern and a set this large in good condition. I'm not really interested in selling at this time, but the value would be appreciated! Please contact me if you need any more information or clarifications.
