This item is in fair condition. It does have small bruises, blemishes, fades, stains, scrapes and additional pilot holes where I attached my bed frame. The faded insignia reeds Roommates by Baumritter. I know Maple was often used in Baumritter furniture, but I don't know it this wood is Maple. What wood is this?
Despite the surface imperfections, the coloring holds smooth, bright and even. The photos show color variation. The color I would describe is umber, maybe burnt umber with golden hues depending on the light. There are some places where the varnish seems to be affected from a water stain, which I've tried to show in the photos. I washing this with goof off to try and remove muck, but was affraid I was etching into the varnish.
The era is also a mystery to me. My father picked it up at a garage sale while he was in residency. Therefore he probably picked it up between '76 and '79. It feels retro to me. Maybe from the 60's. There is not a product number. I seem to remember seeing a printed number on the back when I was a child, but it is long since faded.
It is a nice piece of furniture that I don't have room for. I'm wondering about the value so that I can price it fairly for ebay.
I am having trouble finding this bowlin the books. It is 9 3/4" wide and 3 3/4"high. It has a footed unglazed base. No rings can be seen from inside the bowl.Would like to know name/and value of bowl.
Theo A Kochs Barber Chair has last patent pending date of July 07, 1914. I have no idea of its value in its present condition. The hydraulic lift still operates, it does not have the head rest. Leather isn't perfect. Not sure of it real manufactured date but would like to know. Thanks for any comments.
I have recently bought this pottery crock at an auction for $5.00. I have been researching what this crock may be. I have seen on different websites that it may be from the 1800's and that it may be a mineral water crock although a recent appraisal stated that it is a wine crock worth about $48.00. I wanted to get different appraisals to see what it actually is and how much it's worth. I have seen on ebay similar crocks listed at almost $300.00. One listing stated that in May 2012 a crock like this sold for over $300.00. I have seen wine crocks that resemble this one but still look different. The wine crock did not have the 3 thread markings at the top of the bottle and they looked quite smooth in appearance. This crock looks as if it was hand made throwing it on a potter's wheel and hand forming it because you see imperfections such as finger marks and uneveness in the formation like it was smoothed by hand. It looks as though some sort of bands were used under the clay especially around the handle part. It has no chips or cracks, just the imperfections already stated that you would get with something hand formed. There is a stamp on the front as seen in the photo with words "J. Friedrich Grosskarben B/Frankfurt M and a round marking with lettering I can'r make out. A number 9 on the back under the handle. A felt piece has been placed on the bottom. It stands 11-3/4" and diameter of 3-1/2". There used to be a cork. It's fallen inside. You can hear it rattling. It's brown in color.
