This is a Japanese storage or travel trunk, possibly used for a dowry. It has reinforced corners and hardware front and back that a pole went through, I'm guessing for two men to carry it. (?) Needs some restoration, especially the underside of the lid, but sound.
I don't know much about this item, it was in my mother-in-laws house. My wife is conducting an estate sale. I found one of the exact same ones for sale online for $695 with this description: Vintage Framed Giclee on Textured Board White Floral Bouquet by Blum. It is 3 feet by 4 feet including the frame.
This Persian was in my family estate home for 50+ years, my aunts cared for it meticulously, but newer resident and dog were not so careful. Regardless of needing a good cleaning, the condition is very good as it has been stored for quite some time.
