Watkins Brothers dining Table, drop leaf, Gateleg

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

I contacted some family members of the Watkins Brothers Furniture Company, Lee and Bruce Watkins. The family business existed from around the 1880s to the 1980s. The Watkins Brothers label changed several times over the company's history, and the label on this table was not used after the early 1940s. Earlier than that, they could not date the table for me. It was likely made by one of their smaller facilities as they didn't start using larger manufacturing processes until after WWII. Table has 2 drawers, one on each end.

Description

I have 3 pieces of silver...a silver ladel from the John Bartram Hotel a round silver tray with Ritz Carton P. mark on it. An oval silver basket tray? This also has Ritz Carton P. mark. Hard to tell what it is used for. If you could give me any information and value of what these pieces are worth it will be appreciated.

Vintage 9 Piece Paine Dining Room Set

Category
American Furniture
Condition
Good
Description

I bought this dining room set from the owners son. It appears to be a matching set consisting of a 64x42 table with 2 12" leafs 6 chairs(2 have arms),side board 62x20x33 with 5 drawers(3 across the top,2 underneath them down the middle with a door on either side for more storage)and sits on 5"curved legs with scrolled feet. The corner hutch is one piece but looks like 2, storage with 2 doors at the bottom with a 42" china cabinet above with 2 glass front doors 38x18x72, it too sits on the same matching feet...the table has the the same legs.
The stain on the wood is a pretty medium color but I don't know what type of wood it is. The style to me looks french country with the type of detail and the slight bowing to the middle drawers on the side board.
Any information you could give me about the year it was made, the type of wood and its value would be so appreciated
The set does have some scratches on it and some water marks on the table but other than that it is solid and in great shape. Guess I could also use some advice as to how to best clean and wax the wood on this set.
The pictures of the set are on my blogspot..makeminechicboutique.blogspot.com I will try to copy the link here..http://makeminechicboutique.blogspot.com/
Thank You,
Dorothy

Antique 19th Century Chinese Export Sewing Box Tools Needle Case & Clamp

Category
Lacquer Boxes
Condition
Good
Description

Both pieces seem to be hand carved.

Item 1: This appears to be a clamp of some kind, though I have no idea what it was actually used for. It has what appear to be birds and leaves carved on it. It is in great shape for its age, no cracks or chips, though it is dirty. Size: 1 3/8" x 7/8" x 1/4" (not including the screw in dowel piece which is 1 1/2" long x 1/4" at the knob part).

Item 2: I'm pretty sure this is a needle case - though I guess you could use it for a toothpick holder too. It has a bird and some leaves carved on it. Lid screws on tightly. No chips or cracks. Size: 2 1/8" long x 1/2" round at the top which tapers to about 5/8" at the bottom.

I listed these on eBay and they didn't sell, which probably means I over priced them because I really have no idea what they are worth...I just know they're old, so I thought they might be valuable.
