This high boy was bought by my great grandmother in the late 1800's in Sac City, Iowa. I know it was shipped in from out of state. It is in great condition, but doesn't have the original drawer pull on it any more. There is a tag on the back of it that says "American Furniture Company" and it shows a name and the town it was shipped to which is Sac City, IA.
Crank-wound, cable-driven triple chime, nine tubular bell movement, five position chime selection that plays the famed cathedral chimes of Westminster, Winchester, & St. Michael. Has a silence setting or allows only the hour stike. The solid brass dial features separate silver-plated hour & second track dials. The polished brass lyrependulum is almost 11" in diameter. Superb oak cabinetry is accented with rare, imported Carpathian elm burl facings. All glass, front & sides, is hand beveled.
These lamps are brass with painted areas that are chipping off, creating a nice aged patina. There's a switch at the bottom and one at the top. I can't find any "markings" on the lamps, just the pieces of a small paper label on each lamp that reads "Rembrandt Lamps". I'd like to know when they were made, if they are in fact Rembrandts, and what they are worth today.
thank you!
