Gold Tea pot w/tray

Category
Other
Condition
Good
Description

This tea service has the same gold w/pattern on the outside of each piece and only on the inside of the creamer. There is a pattern in the gold which you can see inside the creamer which is the same on the ouside of each piece. The tea service looks like it's a ceramic w/glaze in an off white color that perhaps has a gold leaf applied to it. The bottom of each piece has a round "seal" that says "Warranted 22 karat gold."
My great grandmother was born in 1890 and lived to be 93 y/o. She gave me this set along with another set of hand painted Nipon tea set and various other china pieces in the 1970's. Along with a china cabinet made by a china cabinet maker in Canastota, NY in the early 1900's. I have no idea where this piece came from or who made it or it's value. There is a little wearing on the gold on the outside of the set in places along w/a few scratches.

Rare Antique Native American Beaded Art

Category
General Antiques and Collectibles
Condition
Excellent
Description

This is a rare detailed piece of American Western history! It was told to me by a museum curater in Reno that it was made over months or years time by a young girl, either Native American or captured white young lady. The work was finely stitched like the parlor needlework of a Victorian girl. It may have taken some time to accuire all these seed beads, and the beads are sewn tighly so as not to let the fabric show through. The artist must have had teriffic eyesight. The beads are quite old and varied. Most are irregularly fauceted to glitter. It has a great variety of colors and sizes, but the beeds were put together in a fabulous cobination, mostly heutrals. The coveted horse is a spotted pony, most likely a mustang from Nevada. The background scene is desert or high desert with white mountians, low clouds and scant green grass & blue water. The piece is very large, the size of a small bathmat, and from the weight could of been used as a rug. It is not missing any beads, and all thread is intact. The backside is brown silk or silk-like quilted fabric. I do intricate seed bead portriats, and the size and detail are amazing given the selection and color range of beads avalible. With overall nice proportions the beads are random rows, not beadpoint. Also incorporated was a reverse shadowing effect and rare beads placed to highlight, given there the artist had just a few odd colored beads.
