This is about 5' tall and it is in allmost mint condition. It has all of its original parts. it has never been worked on and rarely played but it does work and works well. the top lid has "Edison" inlayed in the wood. I do believe this is cherrywood. it has a brass arm to play the discs with and moves with ease. it has the original needle. it has an arm that sticks out from the right side to wind it, it also moves with ease. the compartment with the speaker(not the right word) is all original. The cover still has the original fabric it is worn and tattered but time takes its toll on everything. inside this compartment it has a paper sticker with "factory 19" on it. the bottom compartment has two shelves with 36 discs on each. it has all the discs in it with the paper sleeves will get a list of them all. has a few scratches and one lite chunk out of the back left corner half way up unfortunately. but all in all a beautiful piece. very well taken care of.
I inherited in the 1980s and was told at that time that it was over 100 years old. I have searched for markings and cannot find any. It has 3 removable shelves with display grooves. The bottom shelf does not have a groove. The glass has a wavy texture like in older items. It is beautifully carved, with overlay on the glass. I have searched and cannot find anything comparible. I also have the original skeleton key. There are a couple of small damaged areas, but nothing too severe. It really is a beautiful piece and I would love to know what it is worth.
I was stationed in Douala, Cameroon, Africa in 1976. I bought these two tusks along with some wood carvings from a local. The stands that came with the tusks are gone. The tusks are in very good shape.
All i know for sure is that this item has been passed down from two previous generations and is now on its third. It is passed around as if, and has said to be worth alot, but does not seem like it to me.
The angel feathers are real bird feathers wrapped in what appears to be a linen with velco to the angels back.
The hair looks all too real, not sure however.
The clothing is silk.
