This is a Koken Barber Chair, from either the late 20s or early 30s. My brother in law's - a barber - was given this chair by his father, also a barber. His father made a hobby of collecting and restoring old barber chairs, and this was one of the finest. It has been rechromed, reupholstered and bolts and other small parts replaced if needed with parts from other similar chairs. It's the double round version, with base and seat both circular. All hydraulics and mechanics function as intended! I have plenty of pictures, for those interested!
Has Japanese writing on two sides and an illustration of a man writing on one side with a mountainscape on the other side. Does have a crack down one side, starts at the top rim and runs almost half way down that side.
