There are 3 checks dated 1881 for $100, $255, and $190.83. One of the checks has been stamped macfarlane and co. The other checks have names of J.Y Waterhouse per Shiok Ashly (I cannot read the name).
It is rather heavy and very simple lines. The handle and whole pitcher seems to be made of brass. The body of the pitcher seems with glazed of turquoise and black, blended. It has a ring of brass at the base. The handle is brass and rim and inside of mouth are brass. Looking into it seems to be more of the turquoise and is rather rough-looking. I cannot read all the markings on the bottom except that it was from Israel. There is a maker's mark and other lettering, but I cannot read them or reproduce the mark. I will try to add pictures. I do not have it on EBay because I want to know if it is what it's worth is first.
Very nice and in good shape I do not know much about this item. I know it was made in Alaska from a walrus tusk and carved by a waler. I am sorry I dont know much more
