antique yellow glazed turkey? planter

Category
Pottery
Condition
Excellent
Description

I am posting of what I think to be a turkey planter or vase, I'm not really sure because of the beak. The beak and feat are hand painted in red.

This is really unique and I have tried for a long time to identify what this is and who made it; I would appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance,

Becky

Salt & Pepper Shakers

Category
Pottery
Condition
Excellent
Description

I am just now going through my mother's collectibles. She had over a 1000 sets of salt & pepper shakers. This one seems to be really unique, it is commode shakers that look to be made of clay. There are no stoppers in the shakers. I really don't know much about this set. I am hoping that you can help me identify the type of pottery and maker.

Thank you,

Becky

Poster for Phil Seuling's 1979 Comic Art Conventions in Philadelphia & New York

Category
Other
Condition
Good
Description

Back in 2001, I picked up this poster from a guy while visiting the east coast of America. I wanted it because I am a "super" Superman fan, and from my childhoood the one true Superman artist was Curt Swan-- both the character and the artist are featured in the poster. I also liked that it was from 1979, shortly after the release of Superman: The Movie, a special time for Supes. Being a bit of a comic book historian, I also liked how Phil Seuling was mentioned on the poster. He sold it for only $8, and I was happy to have it, not thinking of selling it or walking away with a treasure.

In the ensuing years, I have searched the internet for another one of these. Google has not revealed another one, and I've not seen one on Ebay either. This poster is certainly 30 years old (the discoloration of the paper, the signs of wear through the years), so I seriously doubt it being some one-shot fan-made product. The paper on which it's printed is very thick.

So, I'm curious if anyone is knowledgable of this item. Considering it's from 1979, before the big wave of comics shops sprung up, where would this poster have been hung, to advertise this convention? Odd.

At the bottom edge is printed "An activity of Sea Gate Distributors, Inc."

If it turns out to be worth nothing, that's fine, as it's pretty cool to me and I'll always keep it.
