Painted Enamel on Copper, Octagonal Miniature

Category
Other
Condition
Excellent
Description

It's enamel on copper, seems hand painted before firing and left rough finished (Suggesting it was intended to be set into something, because it would have been easy enough to clean up the back after firing. Now it is glued to a brass pin, at least 50 or 60 years ago from the type of pin and glue which is as solid as araldite but water soluble - fish glue? Maybe?). It's 1 1/4" across, Might be a "second" that was discarded as there are pinholes in the surface (usually fixed by applying another layer and refiring) and the brown part between the legs of the two women seems thicker, darker, and more pinholed as if it was some kind of correction.I got it from charity shop, but it seems to be a truly remarkable tiny work of art...
