I was going to donate this chair to a small, local museum but before I did that, i wanted to do some research on the item. I found this article http://www.chipstone.org/framesetsiteindexp.html which has made me wonder if I am sitting on a very important early piece. The chair resembles the Governor William Bradford chair the most. The chair that I have does not have finials. it is very simple. Has anyone else every seen one of these chairs in real life (other than at a museum)? It does have the numbers III and IIII carved in the chair under the lower front rungs of the chair on the 2" posts. I am wondering if that is an identifying mark of any kind. it's obviously early but I can't find any examples of chairs like this that are not in museum collections. What strikes me is that the arms are turned in the exactly the same place as that of the true Carver Chair. There is also a misbore hole of the back of the chair....which according to the article I read....is a Tinkham "signature" imperfection.

tea cups just say made in england in graved and glazed .green number. bowls have pat pending with green marking like#.plates say hand engraving all green markings.

Found old Up to date guitary instructory book by Franklin Eaton  - signatures inside with dates of 1905 and 1906 - cost was $.50 by mail - book is bound and in good condition

I was going to provide more detailed pictures, but my flash broke while shooting.  The signature in each peice is at the center right hand side. Signature reads "Roger Lundquist   '73" in cursive handwriting. If you lift up the mat, the names of all the cars depicted are embossed at the bottom of the print/? in gold foil lettering about 1/2 an inch tall. On the right and left ends of each peice, under the mat, ther is about a half inch wide foil border.  Also printed(type) on the bottom opening of the mat is the name of each car depicted.

This was purchased in Babenhausen, Germany when my father was stationed there in 1955-1957. It displays exceptional prism colors when light hits it. Has very clear bell sound of fine lead crystal. The bowl is 3 footed with lid, there are 10 cups, 5 ladies and 5 men's, the ladle is a plastic composite. I remember my mother telling me she opted for the plastic ladle as she was afraid the crystal one would damage the bowl at some point. There are a few of the cups with small chipping on the lip. I don't find any on the bowl or lid. The particulars are as follows:

Size: Bowl, 8 1/2" High, 9 3/4" Diameter(widest point) Lid, 5 1/8" High, 7 3/4" Diameter, 1/2" Lip, Lid and Bowl 13 1/8" High. Woman's Cup, Bowl 2 3/8" High, 3 1/2" Diameter, Handle 1 1/8"H x 1"W. Man's Cup, Bowl 2 3/8" High, 3 1/2" Diameter, Handle 2 1/8"H x 1 1/8"W.

Weights: Bowl and Lid, 9 pounds 14.5 ounces. Woman's Cups vary from 7.3 ounces to 8.4 ounces, Man's Cup vary from 7.9 ounces to 9.2 ounces.

Ladle: Plastic composite, has yellowing to it. Tip of handle has Vitri 621. 14 1/2" long, Bowl part 3" long x 2 3/4" wide.

I would appreciate it greatly if anyone could shed some maker history and value to this set. Thank you so much, Sue
