Hi there! I was gifted this lovely jewelry box, and know nothing of the origins. I'm just here to find a little information.
There are two figurines on the top, two on the front and one on each side. I'd especially like to know what they are made of. I saw an ebay listing with one similar saying it was Ox Bone and the box was dated from the early 19C. I have zero way of knowing if that were accurate. :)
Hi all, I am new to Insta Appraisal and wondering if anyone can help me out in placing a value on this school desk I just picked up. Also - what steps should I take to do a light restore (replace wood, etc) or best to sell as is?
Lettering in the Iron shows the manufacturer & Pat. Date. Which got me this far.
Info I have found: Made in 1872 by J.A Bancroft & Co. Made in Philadelphia (which is where I live)
Two pictures. One is and old man that looks like a fisherman of sorts. He is looking to the left. The other is an old woman who is looking to the right. My great grand mother had these hanging by her fire place when I was a little girl. Donnt know anything else about them.
