Accurate Description of Item
One Early 20th Century Reproduction Louis XV Style Desk
Appraiser Remarks
The Louis XV furniture style has been extremely popular in the past and never really out of production for very long. It's been reproduced during the turn of the 19th Century, the 1930's and again in the 1960's. The best pieces were made in Europe, but furniture of this style was also produced by nearly every major North American furniture manufacturer. The style has most recently been revived as " French Country" and is still in production as French Provincial. Your desk appears to be of European manufacture dating from the first quarter of the 20th Century. The European examples differ from the North American varieties in that they still hand built such pieces using the same construction techniques such as hand carving. We'd retail a comparable desk in need of some restoration in the $1000.00- $1800.00 range.
Estimated Value
$1000.00- $1800.00
