Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
Good advice ;~), but seldom followed it seems. Another resource here is the search box at the top right of the page labeled " SEARCH". Anything commented on is in there going back years ;~)

Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
I HAVE ONE JUST LIKE THIS THAT I JUST BOUGHT FOR PICKLING CORN,I BOUGHT IT IN JULY 2010 FOR $130.00
Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
That's about the high end for a utility crock of this size in good shape in the current market,I've seen some go at auction this year for about $60.00. The early decorated ones still go for a good deal more though.
Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
This is a pickle crock made by Ransbottom Brothers Pottery out of Ohio. Probably 1920/30's.
They are selling online for between $60.00- $125.00.
(Ones made by Red Wing out of Minnesota are at the high end of that est.)
In 1916 the Ransbottom Pottery was the largest producer of stoneware jars. After 105 years in business, the company closed in 2005.
I have a 2 gallon Ransbottom that has sat on the floor beside my fridge for 15 years, until now I had no idea who made it so Thanks. :)

I have a 12 gal crock white on outside and brown on inside the 12 has a heart around it and is in blue both the twelve and the heart. I also have a 20 gal with a black twelve quite large and black interior. Could anyone tell me how much these would be worth they are both unblemished![email protected]
Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
I have a white great condition crock with a blue crown but it has a 6 in the crown ....so i would guess that it is a 6 gal. although it looks like it could be larger ...if anyone knows would let me know ..
thanks smarymom
Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
The number generally referrs to the capacity of the crock , in this case if it's a No.6 , it's six gallons. Utility crocks of this size some go at auction this year for about $50.00. The early decorated ones still go for a good deal more though.
