I have a white great condition crock with a blue crown but it has a 6 in the crown ....so i would guess that it is a 6 gal. although it looks like it could be larger ...if anyone knows would let me know ..
thanks smarymom
Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
The number generally referrs to the capacity of the crock , in this case if it's a No.6 , it's six gallons. Utility crocks of this size some go at auction this year for about $50.00. The early decorated ones still go for a good deal more though.

Re: 12 gallon blue crown stoneware crock
I have a 12 gallon porclain or ceramic (don't know which it is ) and would like to know how to tell...It is very very heavy.
It is approximatly 25-30 years old and in fine condition.
