1883 f.b. rogers silver co. jewelry box

By mara61, 13 March, 2013
Description

8 sided sort of octagon shaped silver jewelry box. Has 4 raised bent outwards at the bottom feet. Underside of box has a sort of rough texture with following words: trade mark 1883 f.b.Rogers silver co. 752. This trademark has a picture of a crown with what looks like a Celtic cross on top of it and a few lines under the crown. All in an oval shape. On the sides of the box there is a picture on every side which makes up one big picture,as in to say each picture is not its own but part of a whole. Looks like a counrty setting. The front is a man in a long tailed coat holding a what looks like maybe a hat and a stick. The man has hair like the white Washington wigs. He is handing a bouquet of flowers to a woman. The woman has her hair in a bun and is wearing what looks like a ball gown.beghind these two figures sits a road and then a field.on the upper left of this panel thee is a tree and in the right there is what looks like a house with maybe a flower pot on a stand and a smaller tree next to the house.going around the box to the left the next panel hast the road in front with the field behind it and the rest of the tree that started on the front.the third panel consists of a road going straight back and then curving round a bit with a tree off to the left center of the panel.both sides of the road are feild to the edge of the panel. The 4 panel is is feild from the bottom halfway up. There is the road in the far background so its very small. And then some sky.the 5 panelthe road starts in the front and cir les around to the back of the panel. There is some trees off in the distance on the leftmost side of the panel.the near side of this panel. Has a double tree growing at a left ward angle with the other tree is straight up and down. There is something in the middle of this feild that sort of resembles a headstone but cant really tell.the 6th panel is mostly the corner of the road that circled on the tithe panel. There is feild on the left side of this road and in the back ofthis pic there sits another house larger than the one on The front panel.there is a tree poking up from behind the house and the top half of this panel is sky.the 7th panel is a stand of trees with grass growing up around them and the road going thrue it. There is some sky on this panel also.the 8th and final panel is the road starting in the left bottom corner and swwooping to the right then coming back left again towards the first panel. A bend in the road I guess. There is grass bottom right and middle left of this panel.there is some small trees beyond the bend in the road and looks like the rest of the house from front panel.the lid is also 8 sided and has a little lip that juts out to trap and open the box. There is a single picture on the entire lid.a woman iin a dress playing a harp while a couple is dancing on the left. They r dancing on a giant floor rug and there is a window behind the harp player with drapes on it.on the top left there is an oval looks like a window and in the very top left there is a sqaure looks like a window. The woman playing the harp is sittingin a chair.the inside of the box is lined with red velvet. The lid is on a hinge.
