8.5 Ft. Tall Steiff Giraffe

By joelcarlsen, 27 February, 2012
Description

This original Steiff giraffe was a gift to my father at my birth in 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  It has traveled with our family to homes in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Illinois.  Seymore the Giraffe - so named because he can "see more" has appeared in parades, fashion shows, and many special events.  He likes to dress seasonally or for special occaisions.

My parents recently moved to a home that couldn't fit Seymore and gifted him to me - and he now resides in Chicago where he overlooks other tall creatures - like the John Hancock and Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower).

My 4.5 year old and 1 year old sons are very fond of Seymore and would like to learn more about when he was made, how he came to the US (made in Germany) and his approximate value - so that I can adequately insure this family jewel.
