Antique Asian Ancestor Shrine

 This Ancestor Shrine was one of several items left beh the family of an old oriental woman who was put into a resthome where she died. It has three objects inside that are carved with writing (Japanese?) and a small drawer that has newspaper clippings.  I am very currious about its value and concerned that I should find a family member to forward it to.  Thank you for your time and welcome all imput.
