Antique Barber's Chair. Would like appraisal.

By imtim4, 10 April, 2010
Description

This chair is in great condition and is sitting in our basement. Everything on it works and aside from the one flaw (a tear in the seat) is in perfect condition. My mother enjoyed using this chair for many years in her barber shop in Louisville and has recently decided that it may be time for it to find a new home. We recently noticed that it is the same style and brand chair seen in the Andy Griffith Show, used in Floyd's Shop.

I had one that was'nt even as nice as yours and sold it for 200.00 dollars. That was two years ago. The economy is.nt good right now but I still think you can get alot more than what I got.

Re: Antique Barber's Chair. Would like appraisal.

Quite right, the Barber chairs had a huge run up in value during the late 1980's, especially the turn of the 19th century examples. Now we seldom see even really good examples sell for over $500.00.
