I found this candleholder at a garage sale in McMinnville, Oregon a few days ago. It looks handmade, with lots of work in the metal. It is made of steel or iron, and is very sturdy and heavy. Probably about 4 lbs. The number 7003 is stamped on the bottom. The finish/patina is unusual, it almost looks like it is painted, but if it were paint you would expect to see places where the paint is chipped or flaked off but I don't see that. It looks like it may be brass or copper plated - the blue/green color looks like oxidized copper. The candle stick spike is one of the few places where the finish is not bluish, it is more brass colored there, with a few steel spots showing through. The edges of the legs show the brass color as well. There are still remnants of wax around the candle spike.
Can anyone tell me what they think about it - like age, origin, value, or anything else of interest?
