antique carpenters hatchet

Item was found at a mine site dating from the 1860/70,s. Item weighs approximately 1lb. appears to be wrought iron and hand forged due to apparent inconsistencies in metal including varying thickness through hole where handle is inserted and discernible line where metal was folded while pounded during formation. Item is appoximately 5 1/4" long, 4 1/4" wide, 1 1/2" thick (at thickest portion)
