Dining room set with a drop-leaf table and four chairs. All in original condition, and some damage to the surface of the table. Needs refinishing by a professional. Not known if the fabric on the chairs is original or not. All solid wood, and extremely heavy. The table has the original mechanism to extend the table when needed. It appears that one screw has been replaced in the mechanism (see picture)
All chairs in very good condition, solid and stable. I suspect that this set is from early 1900's, or older as the table is 29" high, and the chairs (seat) 17" high - suggests time when people, on average, were shorter than nowadays.
I have no idea what style, time period, or what wood this is made of. I bought it from a garage sale, and the seller did not know much about this set.
The medallions on the chairs, and the decorations of the legs of the table are beautiful! I would like any information about this set! All information will be greatly appreciated! If you can tell me anything, please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].
Re: Antique Dining Room Set
Your set is in the Federal Revival style and dates from the second quarter of the 20th Century. Values for sets like this in need of refinishing are rather modest, at auction often under $300.00.
