Antique Pie Safe

I have this same exact pie safe. "Aunt Lizzie", as we call her, is a real pie safe, not converted from anything. I was stunned to find this picture on the Internet and hope I can share a little more information with you. Aunt Lizzie has been in our family for at least 4 generations and according to family lore was made in West Virginia out of pecan. Not sure about the pecan (could be walnut, I suppose) but is extremely heavy and solid. Mine has sold upper doors with the same design as on the lower doors and mine has white china knobs. So I think originally, yours had solid doors. I have no idea of value, but she's priceless to me. I would like to obtain an insurance estimate of value. I never dreamed I'd see another Aunt Lizzie, and having seen yours I now know she was manufactured, not hand made. Thanks for putting the pictures on the internet.

And 2ndly...wow! this is pretty!  i JUST today received a cabinet like this one except my is a lil more plain. The knobs are the original wood ones that match the drawers. And NO designs on doors. Mine appears to be an authentic 'safe' it has the holes on the side panels and all the wood looks original. I wish i had remembered to look at the back more closely before i sat it in the corner where it is gonna live in my room. I am not by any means an expert but i know a tiny bit about what "old/antique" should look like. I this piece! Its so unique to anything i have so far. And to my knowledge no one i know has one! =D I am only 43 but my parents have always had an appreciation for antiques. And until i got older i didnt. I am glad my dad offered and i accepted it!  I am so happy to find such a great array of different versions of "safes"...thanks so much for sharing ladies!
