This Pie Safe is something very old it came to Stillwater, Ok with my wifes Great Great Grand Father and was handed down Mother to Daughter for five generations. All we know about it is it was made before 1890, and considered very rare because there are no metal drilled pieces. The side pieces that are drilled are made of the same wood as the pie safe. It is in pretty good condition and stable enough to hold a 74 piece set of Haviland China for twenty to thirty years. It still has a working lock and the latch for the other door is still there and is all original. All of the shelves are original as well. The drawers are intact but the runners are loose the lower cabinet doors are slightly warped other than that it is a beautiful piece. I believe if the price is right my wife might sell it, but she wants to know the history of it first before she will even concider it But we do not have any idea who made it, or where it was made, all we know is her Great Great Grand Father and family came here from Kansas. His name was Jim Johns and was the first Justise of the peace for two terms in Stillwater. He had the third business here as well. "Jim Johns Livery Stables and Auctioneer. There is several pieces of his furniture that were made in Kansas by the Helmers Manufacturing Co.
