My grandmother claims this vanity was 109 gears old when she bought it from someone. She thinks it's cherry wood but not certain. Everything is original. Never been refinished, original mirror and hinges.
These tend to date from the turn of the 19th century, comparable ones can be found in mail order catalogs from the 1890's, like Sears Roebucks and Montgomery- Ward. It's most likely birch or maple, cherry was rarely used on these factory pieces. Values last peaked for furniture like this back in the 1990's along with the trend in Victorian decorating, since then demand and values has taken a tumble. At auction these now often sell for under 4150.00
