Antique writing desk with sliding leather top

Description

Writing desk with leather inlay and slide out top. I have had this desk for 40 years the person I bought it from had it for at least 30 and they bought it at an antique shop in Manhattan.

Any Idea the origin of piece or the value would be greatly appreciated.
