Archie Gunn 1911

By gabylynneb, 22 December, 2014
Description

I have recently added new photos of the Archie Gunn piece because I beleive it is the original that the prints were made from. I took it out of the frame and found these filler peices dating back to 1922 and found where it looked like 2 of the copy right marks were put on it. And the signature and copy right marks  all look to be in pencil. Please take another look at the new photos and see what you think.

Hello, I got this piece at a flea market and she kept watching me. So I had to check her out. I thought since the signature was in pencil and had some age to it, that maybe It was an original Archie Gunn works. I looks as though maybe it had been folded prior to being framed. The frame looked pretty old and aged its self so I was afraid to take the portait out of the frame. But the inside dementions are 7 1/2 x 11 1/2. and the outside dimensions are 9 3/8 x 13 1/4. Frame is wood and painted black.old nails hold cardboard  in back with large headed nails holding the braided wire to hang by. very dirty almost a smoked look to the cardboard. I believe it is glass in front of frame. art is somewhat distressed and on looks to be heavy coarse paper. has got some signes that maybe had been throught a fire at some time. but no scortch marks on the picture.
